General Policies
Check In Time
Our guaranteed check-in time is 4:00 p.m. The hotel will gladly accommodate early check-ins when possible; however this is sometimes difficult due to time needed for previous guest to depart and our staff to ready the room. We cannot allow any check-ins prior to 12:00pm without early check-in fees applied. Fees are base on time of check-in however there is a minimum of $30.00 plus tax.
Check Out Time
Check-out time is 12:00 p.m. If you request a late check out, it must be approved by the front desk prior to 12:00 p.m. A guest who does not vacate the room by check out time and have received no approval from the front desk may be subject to a penalty charge of $30.00. If guests do not vacate the room by 5:00 p.m. the hotel reserves the right to charge the guest for an additional night's stay.
Cancellation Policy
Please notify Hotel Aiken immediately of any changes or cancellations. Reservations not cancelled directly through the hotel by 5:00 p.m. local time 3 days prior to scheduled arrival date will be subject to charges for one night stay for each room reserved. For higher occupancy dates, the Hotel reserved the right to preauthorize the credit card used to guarantee your reservation for the first night's stay within 72 hours of your arrival at our hotel. An invalid credit card will cancel your reservation. This policy does not extend to reservations made with a group, as each group block has a specific cancellation policy. Please contact the Sales Manager to inquire about your group's cancellation policy.
Please note any changes made to an existing reservation, such as early departures, may be subject to additional surcharges. These surcharges may vary and will be dependent upon seasonal factors or management discretion. Also, note the 72 hour cancellation does not apply to Masters Week or Lobster Race reservations where prepayment is required for booking.
Hotel Aiken is not responsible for weather conditions or personal emergencies.
Guarantee Policy
The credit card provided is used to guarantee the reservation and will not be charged unless there is a cancellation made within the 72 hour cancel window or in the event of a no show. For higher occupancy dates, the Hotel reserves the right to charge a one night plus tax deposit 72 hours prior to your arrival at our hotel. To avoid being charged, the above cancellation policy must be adhered to at all times.
Cash Payment Policy
We are more than happy to accept cash payments for your hotel stay; however we still require a credit card to authorize at check-in for incidental purposes. We DO NOT take cash deposits for rooms. If a credit card cannot be provided, the guest cannot be checked into our hotel. In the event that a guest must cancel their reservation at check-in due to this, we will waive the cancellation fee.
Credit Cards
Hotel Aiken accepts American Express, Discover, Mastercard, & Visa credit cards. If you chose to use a debit card, please be aware that a hold for the total room stay amount will be placed on your account when using a debit card. If you do not wish for the hold to be placed, do not use your debit card at check-in. Also, if the credit card paying for the room will not be present at check-in, the hotel must have a credit card authorization form and imprint of the card on file PRIOR to guest arrival. Contact the hotel directly at (803) 648-4265 to request a credit card authorization form. [Note: Reservations booked through the hotel website are NOT prepaid. The credit card is used to guarantee your reservation and may be authorized for one night on the day of the arrival for all arrivals after 8PM. The credit card used to guarantee would only be charged in the event of a cancellation within 3 days of arrival.
Parking
Due to our downtown location, Hotel Aiken does not have private hotel parking. Parking for hotel guests is public parking and therefore first come, first serve. Downtown parking is free and there are no regulations.
Elevator
Please keep in mind that the exterior hallway courtyard building is two stories and has no elevator. Requests for first floor rooms will be accommodated when availability allows. In the main historical building, our elevator is operated by a member of the staff only. We do not allow guests to operate the elevator because it is the oldest working elevator in South Carolina and must be manually operated by a trained staff member. Our front desk is available 24 hours a day should you need the elevator at any time during your stay. Also, there are no ground floor guest rooms in the main building, only on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The ground floor of the main building houses meeting spaces and two on site bars.
Pet Friendly
Pets are accepted in our courtyard exterior building ONLY. There is a minimum charge of $45.00 for pets. Pets are the sole responsibility of the registered guest. The front desk must be notified of any in-house pets at the time reservations are made and at check in. Pet friendly rooms are accommodated on an availability basis. Pets are not allowed in the main historical building or in public areas of the hotel, such as the inside bar or back patio. The hotel reserves the right to charge a penalty fee of no less than $100.00 to any guest responsible for having a pet in a non-pet friendly room. We also reserve the right to make additional charges upon guest depature for excessive housekeeping or any damages resulting from a pet. Registered guest is solely responsible for any and all liability including personal injury and property damage resulting in regards to a pet.

- All guest rooms are non-smoking as of January 1, 2009. A penalty fee of no less than $100.00 will be charged if any evidence of smoking in a guest room.
